How have you been, my dear friends? I am sending you textile postcards from India! I am enjoying myself, visiting different parts of Bombay. I have been shopping though I don’t think I’ve bought that much. The shopping has been more about the tradition of spending time shopping with my Mom- going to sari stores even though I probably wear a sari twice a year, of spending time oohing and aahing over colors and patterns, of visiting all the places we have always meant to go to, and of taking hundreds and hundreds of pictures. It’s been a lovely time of renewing bonds. Let’s talk now about the fabrics themselves- just drool-worthy, gorgeousness! The intricate embroidery, the different materials and weaves, the studied block-printed cottons, the over-the-top, Bollywood-esque sequins and crystals, the sleek modern abstractions on matte silk-each one of them is a photographer’s delight! And everyone seems to take all of it for granted- I guess being around this beauty everyday blunts your reaction over time! Honestly, the most talented, industrious and creative people live here and being surrounded by them has reset and jump-started my own creativity like no other.- Priya
