Are you ready to throw a tea party? The skies are blue and the sun is shining on me as I sit on the couch in my living room. The days are already getting longer, soccer season is in full swing and we have a birthday party in the park planned for this weekend. That’s winter in California for you- cool to maybe a little cold, and with sunshine always around the corner. All the bright colors inspired us to do a fun tea party photoshoot (you already saw a glimpse of this if you follow me on Instagram). We paired a plain white tea set against the backdrop of an embroidered tapestry- I am a huge fan of these vintage tapestries and own a fairly large collection. Many of these are hand-sewn in Ladakh region of northern India, combine old and new, colorful pieces of cloth, are extensively embroidered and are so much more striking and pretty than a run-of-the-mill tablecloth. When I saw this particular tapestry, the colors that came to mind were pale pistachio green and a hint of Persian rose set against a cream backdrop. Very winter- pre-spring like!
Whether you are hosting tea for your bestie and you or for a gathering of friends, I hope these colors inspire you to have a tea party! You don’t have to wait for spring and for warm weather- you can bring the warmth in now! If you have been reading this blog for even a short time, you know of my love for these tapestries- I have blogged about it so many times!
