OnuOru/ Once Upon A Tea TimeDo you know the brand OnuOru? I heard from them over the weekend and they seem like the perfect OUATT story- serendipity leading  towards a new path, one that is uncharted and requires talent, skill, courage and persistence. They are based out of India  and offer clothing, both traditional and modern styles.  I am going to let them introduce themselves to you…
“We are two sisters Onu & Oru. And we form OnuOru, an apparel design outfit. OnuOru had a serendipitous beginning. We were both pursuing very different careers. Onu slogged her life out in an ad agency while Oru was flying the skies with an airline. A trained singer, Oru soon left it all, to pursue music professionally. Though Bengali, we have had a cosmopolitan upbringing. And so from the very beginning we had a good grasp of the vastly different Indian cultures. We grew up in an extremely creative household. We were always encouraged to give equal importance to co-curricular activities and studies. From a very young age, we were painting, embroidering, stitching our own clothes. However, we had never thought of pursuing this professionally. But a strong need to turn entrepreneurs was always lurking within. One afternoon, over glasses of wine, the courage to dive into the unknown was found. OnuOru was found. It has been 2 years that we started and it has been a fulfilling journey. We have been appreciated for our designs and our interesting play of colours. Our work is very nomadic, tribal even, with a unique contemporary touch to it.
We would like to share our story with you.” Interested? I loved the effortless elegance and mix-and-match of styles in their creations. Whether you are looking for new sari designs or skirts, dresses or pants to express your bohemian roots, this is a brand you want to add to your must-shop list.
