At Collectivitea, we want to always be supportive of artisans around the world, which is why I want to share with you ClothRoads, a global textile marketplace. ClothRoads was founded in 2011 by a group of 5 women, with the intention of discovering and promoting artisanal communities involved in diverse textile traditions. They just opened their first retail studio in Loveland, Colorado and if you are in the vicinity, you should definitely visit. They offer hundreds of artisan-made textiles from countries around the world such as Peru, India, Guatemala, Japan, Laos, Ethiopia and others.
When you shop at ClothRoads, you are helping them support the artisans that are engaged in the production of these textiles as well adding a beautiful, handcrafted tradition to your wardrobe or home- a small part of our collective, global history.
Their new studio is holding a holiday open house on Nov 20th and 21st and the list of items on offer reads like my wish list for every occasion. There are hand-knitted hats, gloves and socks from Estonia and Peru, felted silk and wool scarves from Nepal, ikat from not one but three countries, Guatemala, Indonesia and Uzbekistan. Indigo textiles, baskets, scarves, rugs and other home decor textiles, dolls, jewelry and more. It’s a treasure trove and I want to visit, shop, take pictures and marvel at the ingenuity and craftsmanship! You can find details about the holiday own house and a selection of their products on their website here.
