Hello Monday! It rained on and off the entire weekend and since that is my favorite type of weather, I enjoyed it. This year, I am working through the holidays because with the marketplace being a less-than-a-month-old baby, long days and sleepless nights are to expected. I do plan to carve out time everyday to go to the park or go biking with the boys. How about you? Are you home for the holidays or traveling? Wherever you are and whatever you are doing, have a wonderful time! I do want to share a new/old thing I learnt this weekend- I’ve always practiced it but I learn that there was a word to describe it. It’s called moodling. And according to late author Brenda Ueland, “The imagination needs moodling,- long, inefficient happy idling, dawdling and puttering.” Which is really what I did on Saturday afternoon. Moved things around the house, hung a painting, followed the sunshine from room to room etc. Moodling – it’s nice to put a name to it. In today’s world, we spend so little time idling, dreaming and generally, letting our thoughts wander that when we do give ourselves that space, the results are startling and refreshing. More creativity, more ideas, more energy. Less frenetic activity. Do you moodle? I would love to hear about your process.
Here’s another of Brenda Ueland’s quotes that I love: “I learned…that inspiration does not come like a bolt, nor is it kinetic, energetic striving, but it comes into us slowly and quietly and all the time, though we must regularly and every day give it a little chance to start flowing, prime it with a little solitude and idleness.” Happy Moodling Monday!- Priya
