There are more things than I can count to be thankful for every single day. From the abundance in nature to man-made conveniences, there are just too many. But if I had to narrow it down to two things that I’m most grateful for every single moment of every day, it’s one, the people in my life, and second, the joy that experimenting with my creativity brings me. Apart from my family, there have been a set of amazing women who came in to my life to teach me the power of dreams and the importance of respecting them, both our own and that of others. I have learned so much from them and I always think of them as lighthouses that lit the path ahead. Sometimes, especially on busy days, we can forget how much guidance and support we receive and I just want acknowledge my gratitude for them. As for the joy of creativity and my gratitude towards it, well, I have written about it more times than I can count. The experience has been akin to being handed a live firecracker. It’s wriggling, you don’t know what it’s going to do next, and you can only wait in excitement. My creative exploration has led me through trying out as a radio commentator when I was 17, to writing a blog, briefly publishing a digital magazine + podcasting, and finally zeroing on what I love most, and what brings me the most joy- photography. No one said that the answer to all the creative questioning would come easily. You may like one thing today, but tomorrow may like something else altogether. My suggestion for anyone exploring their creativity is do whatever you feel propelled to do. Whatever form your creativity takes, try it. Enjoy it. Full time. Part time. Any time. Remember it doesn’t have to be a forever thing unless you want it to be. The only thing to remember is that it makes you happy.
