Welcome to Day 15 of the 21 Day Gratitude Challenge! Day 15’s prompt asks you to be grateful for your triumphs. Sounds easy, right? The word triumph conjures up war-like victories, but everything from learning to ride a bicycle, conquering your fear of escalators (that’s me!), starting a new adventure, traveling alone to a new place, to training and running a marathon is a triumph. These are just a few examples, but as I typed this out, I realized that every time we say ‘yes’ to something new, we are triumphing over our doubts and fears. Think of all the ‘yes’s’ you have shouted out!
I am grateful to have triumphed over my fear of escalators (my Dad would make me practice going up and down at the mall every evening after school and I finally got over it). I am grateful that in my mid-40’s I am still saying ‘yes’ to new experiences even though I may be terrified initially. I think that may be my greatest triumph, to have stayed hopeful, vulnerable and willing to say ‘yes’ in the face of fear.
It’s your turn! What triumphs are you grateful for?
