Welcome to Week 3, Day 16 of the 365-Day Creativity Challenge! This week that leads up to the Thanksgiving holiday next Thursday we are going to focus on creative exercises centered around giving thanks.
Today, we are expressing gratitude for ourselves. There are approximately 7.5 to 7.6 billion people in the world today. Each one of us has a unique life path and unique sets of challenges. We’ve all been given different strengths or tools, both obvious and hidden, that we have to first realize we are in possession of. We have to figure out whether we want to use them, and if yes, how to use them. I have three quotes to share with you for today’s prompt. The first one is by Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore, “Reach high, for stars lie hidden in you. Dream deep, for every dream precedes the goal.” The second is attributed to Rumi (correct me if I’m wrong), “Stop searching here and there, the jewels are inside you.” The third one is from Elizabeth Gilbert’s Big Magic, “…The universe buries strange jewels deep within us all, and then stands back to see if we can find them.“
Day 16 Prompt: Draw, paint, or portray using photography the treasures (I love both the star and jewel analogies!) buried within you.
Go For It: What do you think these treasures are? Are they hidden strengths? Talents? Do you have a hint of what they are or are you still seeking them? Can you name them? Wherever you are in your path, acknowledge yourself for the treasure chest you are!
My Day 16 Prompt: I used photography for this prompt because the camera is how I express myself, rather than with a pen or paintbrush. Plus it was a rainy day, and the light outside was magical! I thought of a treasure chest and the lovely jewels inside it just waiting to be expressed and was reminded of this box I have with old and new printing blocks. They are always a source of inspiration, but today they seemed to symbolize the power of these quotes. Thank you for being part of this journey and I’ll see you tomorrow. To share how you are interpreting these creative prompts or following the challenge, please use the hashtag #ctea365 on social media and /or leave me a comment below. – Priya
